Dragon Eclipse Boardgame - Full Paint Commission
This one takes me right back to where my painting journey started.
When I first got sick and realised I wasn't going to simply "get better", it changed pretty much every aspect of my life. I went from working a career where I was doing three people's jobs, constantly moving and doing something, to suddenly being unable to do much at all. I was bored, frustrated, forgetting words, and slowly going a little bit stir-crazy.
I needed something to keep my brain occupied.
I had a pile of board games sitting around, all filled with little figures in various shades of grey, so I thought...
"Why the hell not paint them?"
And, well... here we are.
Almost ten years later, I'm a professional miniature painter.
Sometimes life takes you down some absolutely bizarre roads. I certainly never expected getting sick to completely change the direction of my life, but that's what it does. It picks everything up, throws it around the room and leaves you trying to figure out what the hell just happened.
Anyway...
AHEM.
Back to the pretty little dragons.
A regular client recently commissioned me to paint his Dragon Eclipse board game from Awaken Realms — which, for those unfamiliar with it, is basically Pokémon... except EVERYTHING IS A DRAGON. And honestly, I'm absolutely here for that.
The client had a few specific customisation requests for some of the characters, while the rest stayed fairly close to the original box art.
The result is this wonderfully colourful collection of tiny dragon-shaped chaos, and they were an absolute joy to paint.
Apparently the client liked them too, because he's already asked me to paint the expansion when it drops later in 2026.
So it looks like there are more little beasties on the way!
